I coach people that “life is best lived from the inside out.” One of the toughest principles for folks to get is surrender and how that fits with an “A” type personality. To live from the inside out requires an adjustment to ones thinking. Most of the population is reacting to outside stimuli, meaning they think like this ” when I get this I will be happy, or when I achieve that I will be happy…” and the truth is the opposite. Being happy simply involves the decision to be happy and surrender to what life brings, to what the moment brings. Deciding to be happy no matter what is easy once you surrender to the moment. As Eckhart Tolle say’s “when you fight life, life fights you” and “some people think reality is nuts.” When you decide to be happy no matter what, you accept what shows up with glee… grateful for what has appeared.

It’s also called mindfulness, being in the moment, will bring you a life with ease… now without challenges, one with achievements beyond what you previously imagined. Get the book “the Surrender Experiment” by Michael Singer… a wonderfully written book on the topic of surrender and how his life was blessed by each surrender.

Don’t take my word for it… get the book or experiment yourself with the surrender.

My greatest surrender was on November 18th, 2002, when I had a near death experience… I was asked “stay or go” while being on the other side… and I replied “thy will be done” and boom back in my body in the hospital. Sure enough I had coded (I was in intensive care)… and once back in my body I have to say, surrender is still difficult even with the great lesson that I got.

Keep this in mind, when you are fighting what is showing up in your life. Instead of “railing against it”… relax, surrender and ask “what is this trying to teach me, or how can I use this moment to adjust my life’s direction?

If you are fighting the idea of getting the book I recommend above… surrender and get it.

Gratefully yours,

Steve
